What an Unifolllow result means.

A plain-language explanation of the files we compare, the result we show, and the limits of any Instagram export snapshot.

The comparison, in one sentence

Unifolllow reads your exported following list and your exported followers_1 list, then shows accounts that appear in the first list but not the second. Put another way: following minus followers.

This is a file comparison, not an Instagram account lookup. The checker does not log into Instagram, follow links to profiles, ask Instagram for live data, or change anything in your account.

What you need to select

Start with one Instagram download, unzip it, and select a matching pair of files from that download. We support followers_1.html with following.html, or followers_1.json with following.json. The names can vary slightly when Instagram splits data into multiple files; the checker looks for the follower and following exports rather than a login.

How the checker treats names

The checker extracts the account handle from each supported file and compares handles without treating capitalization as a difference. It removes duplicate handles before showing results, so an account listed more than once in an export will not appear repeatedly in your result.

Why results can differ from what you see in the app

An export is a snapshot created by Instagram. If someone follows or unfollows after the download was prepared, that later change is not in the files. A mismatch can also happen when the two files came from separate exports, when Instagram has divided a large follower list across numbered files, or when an account has changed its handle between snapshots.

For the clearest comparison, request a fresh export, choose the “All time” date range, and use both files from the same downloaded archive. When a result matters to you, treat it as a prompt to check the current profile—not as a statement about why someone made a change.

Optional previous-result file

When you save a previous Unifolllow list, you can add it during a later comparison. The checker can use that local text file as a baseline to highlight accounts that are newly present in the comparison. It is still only a comparison of files you selected; it is not a history stored by Unifolllow.

Privacy and data handling

The comparison runs in the browser on your device. Your export files, results, and optional baseline file are not uploaded to an Unifolllow server. Avoid sharing exports by email or in public posts because they can contain information about your account connections.

Scope and independence

Unifolllow is an independent utility and is not affiliated with Instagram or Meta. Instagram’s export options and file formats can change; when they do, we review the checker and update this page or the FAQ to explain supported behavior.
